Students will learn the basics of how to conduct a thorough and pertinent investigation: what information must be obtained, how to obtain the information and how to present it to their supervisor.

Workers’ Compensation Claimant Investigation and Prosecution - 1

The following topics will be discussed: an overview of the creation and history of the NV Attorney General’s Workers’ Compensation Fraud Unit; potential fraud red flags; necessary contents of fraud-referral submission packets; roles of the claimant, employer/insurer, prosecutor’s office.

Workers’ Compensation Claimant Investigation and Prosecution - 2

The following topics will be discussed: how a fraud-referral packet to a criminal prosecutor’s office is processed; the actors and roles of those involved in the process; scenario training based on prior referral submittals; successful investigation and prosecution of past cases.
